Interview with Tori, a LitPick Student Reviewer
Site Admin's picture

Teens and tweens, LitPick wants you as a student reviewer! But what does a student reviewer actually do, and why should you review with LitPick? Today, Tori, who has been a reviewer for about six years, joins LitPick for Six Minutes with a Student Reviewer and answers all your questions!

What made you decide to become a student reviewer for LitPick?

I've always really loved reading books, even at a young age. I had originally heard about LitPick's older site, called Flamingnet, from an online friend. I looked over what the website was about and was extremely interested. At the time I was probably about eleven years old. I loved the idea of being able to read books for free and then write reviews about them.

What do you do as a LitPick student reviewer?

I get to request books that seem interesting to me online from a list of books available to review. Once I find a book that seems like a good read, I request it and it arrives in the mail within two weeks. If it's an eBook I request, the file is given to me within minutes so I can immediately start reading it. After I finish reading the book, I give the book a star rating and write up a synopsis and review. I usually write up my review in a document on my computer, that way I have an extra copy once I submit it to LitPick's site.

Please tell us three things about yourself.

I adore reading. My favorite genre is YA fiction. Another one of my pastimes is archery. I first got interested in archery from The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. One thing that I cannot live without is music. I enjoy listening to scores from movies, and I also play the piano.

What types of books do you like to read?

Young adult fiction is what I normally read. Post-apocalyptic is my favorite setting, but I also like some modern-day romance novels (such as The Fault in Our Stars by John Green or All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven).

Where is your favorite place to read?

Usually it takes me forever to find the perfect reading position, but I have this amazing pillow that is so comfortable for reading. It's like the ultimate reader's pillow. I usually curl up in bed against the pillow and just sit there for hours, reading whatever book has me hooked.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

When I'm not reading, I enjoy watching movies like The Hunger Games and Divergent series. My taste in movies ranges from post-apocalyptic to romance to horror. I enjoy pretty much any movie, so long as it isn't too hokey. Books definitely top movies, though. I love being able to create the story in my head while reading it, whereas with movies you have little room for imagination. Both books and movies are extremely enjoyable, though.

Tori, thank you for taking time out of your summer to spending six minutes with LitPick! We appreciate getting the chance to know you a little better.
