Hoot is a great book about a boy, Roy, who moves to Florida. Roy becomes friends with a running boy who plans to stop the destruction of owl burrows on an empty lot scheduled to be the next site of a Mother Paula's Pancake House.

Opinion:

This book is about an environmental issue that many communities face in several different forms as construction challenges the environment. The book is well-written, face paced, interesting on many levels and makes you feel good in the end.  I recommend this book not just as a good read but to help heighten your environmental awareness.
