West Grayer lives in the city of Kersh, where everyone lives with an Alternate, a genetic twin. Alternates, or Alts, look exactly alike and have many similar personality and physical traits, but they are raised in different families in different areas of Kersh. At a certain age, pairs of Alts are activated, meaning they have one month to kill each other. This method is the government's way of finding the best people to protect the city. In the previous book, Dualed, West was able to defeat her Alt.

The Deadly Wizard Games by Scott Spotson is a story about when the earth becomes a disaster zone on the brink of nuclear war, four wizards overthrow the United States government and decide to take over the entire world. This does not go over well with the humans, who are mad at the interruption. In an attempt to reach out to them, the wizards appoint Amanda Fullerton as a liaison between the wizards and the rest of the world. It is from her viewpoint that we see what happens in this strange new world.

The Glass Gauntlet is the second book in a series about a boy named Ronan Truelove whose dad works with the most evil villain in the world, the Bend Sinister. Ronan lives with his mom and is training to be a Blood Guard. Blood Guards are sworn to protect thirty pure souls including his best friend Greta. Ronan is entered in a test with paper and pencils, but it turns out to be a death defying competition and whoever wins gets one thousand dollars and a scholarship. But the Bend Sinister is coming and wants to destroy everyone and everything.

Ms.Rapscott's Girls is a book written and illustrated by Elise Primavera. The book is about five little girls who are eight years old, with the busiest parents in the world. These little girls, scattered across the U.S., are shipped in boxes to Ms.Rapscott's School for Girls of Busy Parents.  While there, they learn things like how to find your way, what a birthday cake is, and how to approach a bumbershoot tree. They stay inside a lighthouse but when they go to their classroom with five little desks, there are only four students.

This was another graphic novel featuring the hilarious Flying Beaver Brothers.  In this story, the brothers decide to compete in a race to win a houseboat.  Throughout the race they are met with multiple challenges.  The Beaver Brothers compete in the race honestly despite being tempted to do otherwise. When the race goes very wrong, the brothers are able to save the day in their own special way!

His dad is serving in the war overseas, but still finds a way to give Reggie a hard time. On top of that, a bully is constantly teasing Reggie about his Indian background.

Astrid has a best friend named Nicole. They do everything together.  Every Friday night Astrid’s mom takes them somewhere different.  On this particular Friday Astrid’s mom takes them to a rink.  The girls don't know what it is for until all the lights go off except for one.  
 
Then someone standing in the spotlight says welcome to roller derby.  Once Astrid sees them play she falls in love with the game. She begs her mom to take her to the junior skate team.

Ben Duffy plays hockey on a travel team so he doesn't have a lot of time for school. He eats breathes and sleeps hockey.  Ben has been getting bad grades lately and hasn't been paying much attention in school because all he can think about is hockey and wanting to be in the NHL. Now he has been invited to try out for an elite hockey academy and boarding school a few hours away. When he asks his parents about the academy they say no, and that he should be focusing more on school.
