In The City of Ember: The Graphic Novel the main characters, Lisa and Doon, try to find a solution to Ember's giant problem: the city is running out of everything.  With the generator dying and the food running out, all seems lost. But a chance discovery gives new hope to the people, although it was not time to celebrate yet. “The Instructions,” as Lisa called them, were in tatters from her little sister, Poppy, chewing on them!  Once they finish decoding “The Instructions” a surprise twist happens when they try to tell the mayor that forces Lisa, Doon, and Poppy to to leave on their own .

Opinion:

Jeanne DuPrau brings you back to Ember in this vividly pictured graphic novel.  The graphic novel follows the same storyline as the novel The City of Ember.  However, it is illustrated very interestingly and compels you to read farther, making the book hard to put down.  The art was done by Niklas Asker, and the story was adapted by Dallas McDaugh. But the story stays true to the original story, written by Jeanne DuPrau even if it came out ten years later.  I enjoyed the book very much because of the pictures and how it stayed true to the original.
