This is the non-fiction companion book to the Magic Tree House Night of the Ninjas. You do not need to read the fiction book to enjoy the non-fiction title! However, this companion title is not written at the same level as the fiction.  It is much higher.

The author uses interesting facts, black and white illustrations and also photographs to give the reader an accurate knowledge of Ninjas and Samurai Warriors.  For example, what was it like to be a Ninja or a Samurai in Ancient Japan, or how would you become one?  The text gives the answers to these questions and many more.

Something that may be unfamiliar to some readers, instead of using a traditional glossary the author defines vocabulary words in the sidebar of the pages.

Anyone with interest in martial arts, ninjas or samurai warriors will really enjoy this book.

Opinion:

This book was chocked full of interesting information! I have read a lot on this subject, and I still learned many new facts!

The author's introduction at the beginning was a really nice addition. I enjoyed reading it.

Younger readers might find the layout of the book (the glossary along the side of the pages) and the text level a little hard to follow, especially if they are the age as the children who would read Night of the Ninja.

The non-fiction title is written for 7-10 year olds, but I think 7 and maybe 8 year olds would struggle with it. On the flip side I think the subject matter and the text level is also appropriate for 11-13 year olds.
