Jordan Lake has always had an obsession with Audrey Hepburn, but after discovering a piece of her family history she finds out that her idol may be closer to her than she ever dreamed possible. While rummaging through her grandmother’s house, Jordan finds a bracelet almost identical to one that Audrey Hepburn wore in a movie. The bracelet belonged to an aunt that Jordan never knew who was the inspiration for the movie. After begging her grandmother, Jordan takes the bracelet home and decides to wear it to school. Immediately, Jordan notices strange things occurring, with the bracelet being their obvious cause. The bracelet glows at random times, she is suddenly having visions that predict the future, and a goddess keeps showing up in her life. Knowing she has just released a powerful force, Jordan doesn’t know how to fix her mistake. The goddess, Hathor, has plans of wreaking havoc on her school. Jordan now must find out how to contain Hathor in order to return her school and friendships to normal.

Opinion:

No More Goddesses by Kate Baccellia was an interesting, adventurous read. I really enjoyed how the author intertwined her knowledge of Greek mythology into the story. The feelings that the narrator, Jordan, presents are emotions that all high school students can understand: fear, love, heartbreak and confusion. However, while her thoughts and emotions are relatable, the high school setting and situations sometimes came off as stereotypical. This novel held my interest the entire time I was reading due to its fast pace and easy-to-read style of writing. I particularly liked the relationship between Jordan and her best friend, Sabrina, because their friendship stayed strong through all of the obstacles they had to endure. The author also uses foreshadowing very well in this story, maintaining a sense of mystery in the reader. In conclusion, I really enjoyed reading this novel and would recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure and especially those interested in Greek mythology.
