This is a well-written book about a girl's determination to save her friends. The main character, Heart, is a slave who is torn between escaping and saving her own life or saving her new friends. Heart goes through a series of events, including abuse, murders, and trials, all with her friends and new boyfriend at heart. There is a mysterious secret about the glass ceiling, and with a few letters, the help of a boy, and a brave heart, Heart tries to figure it out.

Opinion:

I found it somewhat hard to lay this book aside. It was an amazing book because I almost always felt connected to Heart, thanks to the details presented in every scene. This book is loaded with emotions and twists that kept me reading. I loved how Heart put others above herself and wanted to protect them no matter the circumstances. But if I could change one thing, it would be the ending. It was too abrupt. I recommend this book to mature readers who like mysteries and/or romance.
